3 Best Autel Bidirectional Scan Tools Reviews

car diagnostic tool

A bi-directional scan tool is an ideal device for professionals wanting to have it perform tests and solve problems happening with the vehicles diagnosis system. There are several bi-directional scanner brands, Launch, Autel, Vident and others. I pick out the 3 best Autel bidirectional scanners for those who may be interested.

Part 1:
First of all, there’re a few things you should know about bi-directional scan tools.

1). As the name implies, bidirectional scanners function in two ways. They let you send and receive data to and from your vehicles’ on-board database. According to some manufacturers, they’re designed to request the control module to perform specific functions, including actuator tests, functional tests, inspection tests or the like, reprogramming and reinitialization can also be included in the list of bidirectional controls.
2). The most popular consumers are mechanics, professionals and DIYers who ask for these special functions listed above.
3). It can reduce your diagnostic time and improve the work efficiency.
4). Bi-directional control refers to the process of sending and receiving info from vehicle control modules.

Part 2:
3 best Autel bidirectional scanners:

1. Autel Maxidas DS808 bi-directional scan tool
It’s one of the best Autel bidirectional scan tools for professionals. To be fair, a higher price tag of the device just matches its functionality.

From cheryl harkorn:
The autel is a good tool. I’ve programmed keys for Hondas and Fords with it. It can program tire pressure sensors but you need the tpms tool to go with it. The graphing is sort of low grade, but it has lots of bidirectional functions.

From arbez:
DS808, the newer version of the 708 , it has many upgrades.
We used to have a DS708 and it was a great tool. It had many features, but seemed not a perfect one. It would look like you could perform a task, but when you tried, it would fail. Some cars you could program for “all keys lost”, others you could “clone” a key, while others you could do nothing.
Autel DS808 seems like a huge update from DS708 and I’m sure things are better now.
From mph855:
I had an Autel DS708 and Used it for 3.5 years. Last month, I just sold it since it was outdated. It worked fine for what I used it for. Bidirectional control was great, but it was it was slow.

From Kaane:
DS808 is awesome! I just bought one and I am so happy with it. Well worth the money.
From anndel:
I had the DS708 before, but then sold it and bought the Autel Maxisys 906TS. DS708 was great for that time but it was slow to boot up and read codes. DS808 a great improvement over the 708, and it won’t let you down.

From xcarobd:
DS808 is the upgraded version of DS708 and DS808K also have full kit, which is good to replace DS708.

2. Autel MaxiSys MS906 bidirectional diagnostic tool
It’s a mutli-functional scan tool for mechanics and car repair shops similar to DS808 at a more expensive price, but you can get support from Autel USA.

From anndel:
I had a ds708 before and loved it. Then I sold it and bought the Maxisys 906ts since it has TPMS, bidirectional and wireless bluetooth.

From AGuinn:
We had a Autel ds708 for several years, then moved up to a MS906. The Autel units are reasonably priced and powerful, but the documentation is pretty much nonexistant.

From mulvaneysp:
We have the maxisys scanner as well.
Pros: Scans most makes and models. Allows some OE-level functions. It can overlay graphs in live data. Reflashing works great when it’s paired with a computer.
Cons: Slow to read some imports, most notably Honda, Nissan, Toyota.
In summary, it’s a great tool. I believe every repair shop needs multiple scanners to complete different tasks we’re asked to do. Personally, I prefer this one.

From vannoorchiris:
I have a Maxisys that has been great. Good tool and does many factory functions. Sometimes, I use it for J2534 reprogramming and there’s not any problems.

From Don:
This is my first time to purchase a professional level scan tool and it doesn’t disappoint me. The scan tool is compatible with hundreds of cars. Navigation is very easy on Android-based system. Internet access allows for instant searching of trouble codes and recommended repair methods. I am very impressed with all the features it offers. It can perform many tests on the systems of the car, and the bidirectional control makes trouble shooting much easier. Overall this tool is worth the price and a handy tool.

3. Autel Maxisys Pro MS908P OBD2 scanner
It’s the most expensive bidirectional scan tools among the three I list in this article. With higher cost, with more powerful functions. That’s true for Autel MS908P, which can nearly do everything that professionals and mechanics want.

From Cgaengineer:
Just picked the 906bt up today and I am excited to use it. You can add a scope and bore scope if you would like. In terms of capability, the 906 and 908 use same software…The ms908 has bigger screen, charging dock and ability to use J Box…

From Frankie:
I’m a master technician and shop owner for over fifteen years and was a little skeptical with the Maxisys at first…cause I have a thing with Chinese made products. But after researching and viewing videos on this scanner…I finally bought it for its functions. When I received it and opened the box, I am impressed. It’s light and very comfortable moving around, and it’s bluetooth… I’m connected to cable modem and the update took just 1hr and a half. The best part is its incredible speed. The booting up, the ease of touch screen…it feels like navigating through my Samsung S6. I had a 2016 Land Rover that needed a rear brake repair…when it came time for the repair, I had no knowledge it had electronic parking brake…Then I checked to see if the ms 908 had the electronic brake release feature…and I was shocking that it did! I was so happy with this and also glad I didn’t go as far as investing in other products. For me, it’s good enough already!

From Tyler:
The MS908, I believe! A few years old now, but still works well.

From Junkyard_Dog:
Autel MS908 can do all that and more. It reflashes using either the tool or a laptop depending on vehicle.

From autonumenbella:
It’s very important to have a good Autel maxisys pro ms908p tool for car repair work. I recently added a ms908p to my garage. The price is really good, better than in the United States sold much cheaper, but it still took me € 2,880.
MS908P is regarded as the best diagnostic tool with full diagnostic functions and wide vehicle range. Wifi ms908p diagnostic system is better than Autel DS708 pro.

Looking for more affordable scan tools, which can also perform some bidirectional tests? Autel AL519 and Autel AL619, with a much lower price tag, are the suitable ones for ordinary car owners and rookies.
